The shelf is too thick for use. We made ours. Also, one side of the niche was peeled off and not glued. On the back it was peeled off with adhesive tape and the inner seams were smeared with silicone. Installed a defective seam at the top and pray it doesn't leak. Everything else went well. It took about a week to arrive. We love how it mounts flush with the wall, eliminating the need to cover the alcove. Remember that you need to stick the tape (optional product) to the edge of the niche and to the wall. This was not mentioned in the product description.
