After trying a rented spring compression tool that couldn't be used on my Ford Focus I decided to give this tool a try. While it wasn't possible to apply it through the bottom of the feather, there is a trick; The rod can be temporarily removed from the hooks and then threaded through the side of the spring and reattached inside. On the underside I had to cut about 2 inches off the stem to avoid hitting the top case bolt. I really think the OEM should sell this tool with a different shank size. While I was able to remove the old spring, I couldn't put the new one in because I couldn't compress the spring enough to fit and leave room to remove the tool after installation. .
