I love that this came with a sleeve which is soft and washes really well - doesn't shrink). I followed the directions and left it on for 24 hours before using it. I didn't notice the smell and I'm very sensitive to smells. I was concerned that it might be too soft at first, and then once it was fully "inflated" I worried that it would be too hard. It offers me perfect support and is absolutely non-slip on my side of the bed. (I put it between the mattress topper and the sheet). It supports me and I haven't had any shoulder or back pain since using it.
