At first I was a bit tired of ordering them as they all looked plastic. However upon opening the box and handling the tape measure they appear to be well made, hold the tape well and are a good weight in hand. Compared to my old school Stanley, this tape measure looks more modern and less messy. Tape measure markings are clear, legible and easy to use. The bands stop and hold when you release the band (there's a lever on the bottom that you press to release the band) and quickly retract when you press it again. My ONLY beef with this is that the contact points on the top of the band where it touches the body (to prevent the band from slipping - see my third photo) are on the edges of the band. I had a Stanley Fat Max that did this and after a few years the lines started to wear out and once the lines are gone you can't measure. I'll update this review and let you know how it holds up as it wears down a bit. Aside from my fear of blurring the lines (which always happens years later when you're hooked on things and really don't want to give them up - you've done so many projects together! ;) ), I'm very happy with these tapes . Seem well made, comfortable and just look clean.
