Every artist needs ALL of these colors!

Kuretake is by far my favorite watercolor metallic. Whether I'm looking for saturated, rich pigments that blend with any other material, or just need a touch of pearlescent to bring light to a darker area of a painting, each set delivers consistent color and layering. Pearls have a pearly luster with a lighter underside. The gems, all bright and colorful, can stand alone or be layered on top of one color to enhance the colors. The golden ones are definitely my favorite. The gold and silver are so rich they sit on top of the mascara with 100% coverage. When I paint with ink I always add some shimmer to the mix. Instead of buying very expensive metallic inks, I can use Kuretake Metallics and add them to the ink. The end results are even better than metallic inks. I have compared all Kuretake paints to other more expensive brands. The Colorio Finetek has a great variety but cannot match the performance of the Kuretake and they are twice the price. Prima Aquarelle offers two metallic and non-gold color options. They are comparable in performance but the prices are different. If you snag this set of 3 palettes on sale like I did, you'll never need a metal support for your art projects ever again. Finally, the colors are durable. Good sized pots that activate with just a few jets of water from a spray bottle. They come out of the box so you don't ruin the whole set. Just pull out the pots you need. Not dirty at all. I love the simple packaging design and the fact that I can do it if I want to create a custom kit. Regarding paper, these inks will work on any paper, even the lightest cardstock can take these inks and remain vibrant once dry. I make small trading cards for artists on medium to light cardstock, these colors look like precise gel pens when used on unstructured cardstock. Ideal for creating homemade cards and postcards.
