This worked as intended. I was very happy with how it worked out for us. I kept thinking of other applications we could apply to it. I'm deducting a star because of the somewhat weak feel of the device holder itself. The plastic on mine looks and falls like it could be a little more brittle. The springs in my tensioner are a bit noisy and "crunch" a little when a device is added or removed. As said, I've had no problems with it, and mine securely holds our phones and tablets. A few more notes: The articulated arm is held in place solely by friction and gravity. Although the fit on mine is snug and snug, resist the temptation to pick it up and move your hand as it can come out, I discovered in a moment of thoughtlessness. The base and main support legs feel solid and provide a relatively stable platform. It's stable as long as you align your hand properly with the base. However, due to the rectangular shape of the base, there is a potential risk of tipping over when moving the arm into certain positions. as I discovered in a moment of frivolity.
