We tried at least 3 different pet gates, all reasonably priced and none of them lasted more than a year. The last one had plastic panels which my doberman broke in no time. This gate is all metal and uses two hex head screws (wrench included) to hold the panels together as they slide out to the desired width. The latch is spring loaded and metal and is easy to operate with one hand. It can be set to swing in both directions or just in one direction with the stop. The only potential downside for some (not me) is that this gate cannot be closed, you have to manually close this gate. Based on the design and structural integrity of this gate I would expect it to last quite a while. worth your money.
