Review on πŸ”’ ProSafe FM114P Wireless Firewall with 4-Port Connectivity by NETGEAR by Trevor Rodke

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Solid product: computer and accessories

I bought this router after months of trouble with a Linksys BEFW11P1 that died one night due to a fatal red diagnostic light that refused to turn off. That's all he advertises. It offers excellent range thanks to the detachable antenna and I would like to add that it is WiFi certified. I get 11MB reception in places where it used to be 2. That's a real leap. Its firewall is robust and reliable. SPI is a great feature these days. It comes with a lot of setup help material to help someone with no home networking experience get it up and running. The print server is pretty fast, just like the Linksys, but more reliable. New firmware is constantly being released, new features are constantly being introduced. Beta firmware features (free download) not currently advertised for this product include UPnP support, tracing support, improved device table, logging of visited sites, ability to disable SSID broadcast, and compatibility fixes. Soon this firmware will be stable and available for everyone. This is a great product. I highly recommend it. All is well now and Netgear seems to be working towards making it even better.
