Review on πŸ•’ Hardline Products HR-8061-2 Hour Meter/Tachometer for Twin-Cylinder Engines, Black by Fred Massingill

Revainrating 5 out of 5

which were installed easily with either a drill and screw or peel and glue

I now have 4 of these high quality, really nice, single wire tach/hour meters that were easily installed with either a drill and screw or peel and glue . Unfortunately I've spent $$ on other brands of speedometer/hour meter sold here in this price range (and much cheaper) that have extremely inaccurate speedometer readings, fewer features and I now know don't look as stylish as the HR.- 8061-2. . After failing to get stable or accurate tachometer readings on these poorly performing "other" units, even after trying other selectable firing intervals, wrap 2, 3, 4, or 5 turns of the test lead neatly around the spark plug wire, in BOTH directions from the Spark plug (!) I finally tried this more expensive gauge HR-8061-2. This Hardline Products device will display (Engine Stopped) when pressed and held in Tach Mode, the maximum RPM or - when pressed and held in Clock Mode, it will display the "Number of Engine Starts" while the maximum RPM can be selectively reset by the time of each start Simply continue to hold the single counter button. When newly installed on my 4 year old pre start log splitter it showed 71 engine starts and reminded me how many days of work and juice/water breaks I had taken. On my Weed Wacker 4-stroke engine, not only was it invaluable for keeping track of engine oil change times, but it also maxed out at 9860 rpm! One unit on each of my Orange 2000w and Yellow 3100w Inverter Generators shows EXACTLY stable, consistent RPM readings with the motors running steadily under load. Since you can access the clock (e.g. 48.1) while the engine is running, fuel or oil change data can be recorded or processed. As a 70 year old retired professional motorcycle mechanic (Auto/Truck/PowerEquipt) believe me this is the ONLY RPM/Hour Meter you should invest in.
