WILL. NO. JOB. ON THE. MAGNET. KITCHEN SINK. ENGINES.

I'm only giving one star because I can't use it. While everything I've read has said it can be used on any small motor, that doesn't mean it can't be used on solenoid systems. Maybe I should have read between the lines and researched the installation instructions? I bought it for my 21hp Briggs and Stratton Intec Twin which of course has solenoids. Nowhere is this mentioned, not even on the Hardline Products official website, I think it should be clarified. It looks like it will be helpful, but

Great hour meter and easy to install. Necessary.

This is a must have for anyone who owns an off road bike. I installed this on my 2015 kx450 and it took about 30 minutes. It would have taken less time but my gas tank is very difficult to remove so I installed it without removing the tank completely so it was difficult for me to get my fingers in there. I recommend using tape and 2 zip ties when wrapping the wire around the spark plug. Use tape first, then zip ties. Hardline makes great hour meters at great prices. I also got a tank mount forโ€ฆ

Reading unstable, cable too short

I wanted to use this to see how my RPMs develop alternately on my bike. But the readings jump sharply, not stable at all. The wire is too short. There are no instructions anywhere on their website as to what you should do. There should be instructions on what size and type of wire to use. I added a wire that was almost the same size as the wire's OD and soldered the connections together. Most of them know that for $29 the tiny amount of wire they give won't work for most setups. Got a 2 year old unit with reduced lifespan

I had one of these hour meter/tachometers on my Echo PB-770T backpack in 2013 when I bought the blower new and it was still working great when I sold this compressor month after 7 years of service in November 2020. I like that these devices show hours and revolutions per minute. They seem very durable and mine have held up well. It should be noted that the battery powering this device is sealed inside the device and cannot be replaced. The manufacturer states a battery life of around 10 yearsโ€ฆ

OEM Made in America / Digital Speedometer

Designed and assembled in the USA. Intuitive to use. Also works great on newer chainsaws that generate 2 pulses per revolution or use coil-on-plug ignition or even breakpoint ignition; but still shows the exact speed. Black plastic case. Epoxy sealed lithium battery (maintenance free) with a lifespan of 10 years. The device is smaller than in the photos. Bind it to something to track usage hours over its lifetime (will not reset so your co-workers can't bind you). Generator. Chainsaw. Leafโ€ฆ

Works as advertised. But

I have used similar products on a generator before. This went to DR Premier Field and Brush Mower. Let me tell you how short it works, it works. But I had a few minor problems. The first issue is that the supplied cable is too short to reach the attachment point in the DR handlebar area. I used duct tape to stick it to the top of the motor area (not HOT). The tape is very sticky but after about 1 hour of use it was still coming off with vibration and dirt stuck to it rendering it unusable. Iโ€ฆ

Seems to work without having to wrap the wire around the spark plug wire

Looks exactly like a Stihl EDT 9 which comes with a short 6" cable that acts as a wireless "antenna" functions and picks up the RPM of the chainsaw when the antenna is held 4-8 inches from the spark plug. The hardline tach comes with a longer piece of wire that needs to be wrapped around the connector, so I cut 6 inches off the long wire and plugged that short section into the tach. This made it possible to achieve truly wireless RPM measurements while holding a homemade antenna. Centimetersโ€ฆ

which were installed easily with either a drill and screw or peel and glue

I now have 4 of these high quality, really nice, single wire tach/hour meters that were easily installed with either a drill and screw or peel and glue . Unfortunately I've spent $$ on other brands of speedometer/hour meter sold here in this price range (and much cheaper) that have extremely inaccurate speedometer readings, fewer features and I now know don't look as stylish as the HR.- 8061-2. . After failing to get stable or accurate tachometer readings on these poorly performing "other"โ€ฆ
