The fan balancing process is quite simple. The product works for what it does. I cleaned the fan blades very well and they were dry before I started balancing. However, I'm deducting two stars because one of the weights just didn't grip. I leave my bedroom fan on at night when I sleep. A few days after balancing my fan, I heard two incredibly loud pops. The first was on my head and the other was on the other side of the room. It scared me to death. Startled, I got out of bed to see what was making the noise. A weight covered with some kind of rubber flew off the fan and bounced off the wall at my headboard and then across the room from the wall. I don't think it would harm a person if it hit someone, but it couldn't be pretty. With the fan running at full speed, that weight would have to have some serious momentum to bounce off two walls like that. Luckily the other two weights I was using to balance the other fan didn't come off. But there was clearly a problem with the glue I used for my fan.
