New Use: Heating Pad

I bought this on purpose because it's not insulated. This bottle has only one wall, while some other products with a similar appearance have a double wall. I wanted a bottle that could be filled with hot water and then kept warm. I have used glasses before. I filled them with hot water and then held the jar in my gloved hands or placed it between the layers of my clothing. The warmth of the water warmed the bottle and the bottle in turn warmed me. It was dangerous. The glass jar may break or shatter, allowing fragments of glass to cut skin and hot water to burn skin. I now fill a 34 ounce stainless steel glass with hot water for the same purpose. Stainless steel breaks less often than glass. The bottle has a label warning of burns when filling with hot water. The technique I use is to make sure there is a glove or several layers of clothing between the bottle and the skin. As expected, stainless steel transfers heat from hot water faster than through glass. So I use this product. like my usual "warmer". But I think it can also come in handy during cold weather camping emergencies to counter eventual cases of hypothermia. The method of treating hypothermia is to warm the victim's body. One way to do this is to create a ring of light and place the person in the center, exposing their core to the heat and protecting their limbs. An alternative would be to heat the water and put it in several of these bottles and then apply the bottles to the core as above. [Edit: I've been using this bottle for a few days now. I am impressed with the way it is made and its performance. I start with boiling water and place the bottle between layers of clothing and after a few hours the water is still warm enough to transfer heat. Hot water creates a vacuum as it cools as the internal pressure drops. This is good because it holds the top even more securely. That's not a good thing though, as the vacuum sometimes makes it a bit difficult to unscrew the lid when you want to open it. When I unroll the top, the silicone inner ring that normally sits inside the top can get stuck from the vacuum. The trick is to use your fingernail or something similar, e.g. B. the tip of a key, and gently push the ring upwards. It breaks the vacuum. Another approach is not to use a silicone ring, but the ring is meant to prevent leakage and I've found that sometimes, but not always, the bottle leaks a bit without the ring. I recommend using this bottle as a hand warmer. for example, to watch outdoor sports in the cold. The sock can be worn over the device as the metal gets very hot when filled with boiling water. The sock slows down heat transfer. Over time, as the water cools, the sock may slip off. And when most of the heat has dissipated, the bottle can be "charged" by emptying it and filling it with hot water from a thermos. [Edit #2: Here we are, almost a year after my first purchase, and I'm still finding new ways to use these bottles. I will be buying two more to use as clothes dryers. What if you're hiking and need to dry your thick woolen socks? Maybe the socks got wet because water accidentally got into the boot. Maybe the socks were washed on purpose. How do you dry them? The usual answer is to hang it over a wood stove in a tent or near an outdoor fire. Is there an alternative? Enter the Steel Bottle. Heat some water on the stove or fire and fill a steel flask with hot water, ideally boiling water. (Alternatively, you can pour unheated water into the bottle and heat the water in the bottle over a fire without closing the lid.) Close the bottle. Put a wet sock over it. Vapor moisture begins to rise out of the sock immediately. The sock dries completely in a short time. It is also suitable for "ironing" other damp items of clothing. Triple Tree Steel Universal Bottle is a water bottle tape.]
