This was very easy to install. It would be easier if I didn't try to close the 6" square hole! I had to use a ceiling medallion and a standard 10" would have been much easier, but the light is too close to the edge of the room and it wouldn't have been possible. was hanging, so trying to mount the lantern to the bracket created a new problem. Did! The light looks amazing, can't believe it took so long to swap it out! My suggestion is if you are replacing a lantern with a larger base, first remove that lantern to see if that base will cover your hole. The light can handle up to a 100w bulb. Although mine is dim, this has to do with my choice of lightbulb.
