Very soft leather. The sole is very different from what I expected. I removed the insoles and replaced them with my flat green Spenco insoles so I could use my Birkenstock insoles as my high arch means I can't wear shoes without insoles. Orthopedic insoles fit perfectly. They were quite comfortable at first, so I decided to wear them to work. From there down the slope. The shoe has an annoying heel that makes walking a bit awkward. The soles are thinner than I'm used to and after walking in them for most of the day I realized they weren't very good work shoes. So it was an expensive lesson. I wear Roper Performance overalls on my shoes so I thought they were comparable but not even close. I will eventually use them at home with my Birkenstock foam insoles as it makes them more bearable when worn. I ended up ordering a new pair of Roper Performance shoes. These are the best ropers. I don't recommend them.
