The build quality is very good. It doesn't look cheap at all. Image quality is excellent when you open it up and get down to f/5.6 or f/8. Wide open, soft focus at the corners. It has a degree of barrel distortion that can be corrected after the fact, unless you're shooting JPEGs straight from the camera. It has a stepless aperture, which might be more attractive for videographers. The ring is strong enough to hold itself so it cannot be accidentally twisted. There's nothing electronic or fancy, like fast autofocus or image stabilization. Simple and functional. I usually rate this lens *** based on its performance compared to what's available on the market. However, the packaging and presentation are excellent. You will not get such a presentation even if you buy professional lenses. And the extra bonuses are flattering. You feel respected and valued as a customer. 5 stars means perfect, so I won't rate it that way. For the sake of presentation and an incredibly good price, I'm giving it a 4 star rating. for general purposes, from family portraits to street photography. It's a small, light, easy to use and pretty lens that I recommend.
