They are great for tasting hot food, they won't melt in your hand.

Every year we hold a chili cooking competition and have to distribute small portions of chili to hundreds of tasters. In the past we have used sample containers that melt in your hands due to hot chili peppers. These mugs turned out great! We will buy more in the future.
