Works like a charm. I bought this to also read the old SATA drive I had. I originally bought another brand and it didn't work. He spotted the disc and opened it almost immediately. I also dug up a few other old IDE drives I had and it read them fine too. The instructions clearly state that some IDE drives require the metal cover to be removed in order for them to fit properly in the reader. Make sure you buy USB 2 or 3 depending on what your computer supports. If you buy a USB 3 reader and your computer only has USB 2, it won't work for you.
