If you are new to DE razors, I highly recommend a sample kit to get you started. Everyone's face and hair is different, and what works well for one can be terrible for another. The price per blade isn't cheap, but it's a lot cheaper than buying crates of each blade individually, and still cheaper than each of the cartridges. This trial pack contains a good selection of popular brands. I noticed that the brands in this example change from time to time, but they're all good choices. Most boxes have 5 blades, some have 10; It's more than enough to try each a few times and see what you like and don't like. Two tips for those new to wet shaving: 1. After a few months of shaving, go back to the sample pack and try each blade again. As your technique changes, some blades you didn't like before might suit you better this time. It's okay not to love what everyone else loves (or love what everyone else hates). For example, just because most people like Feather Blades doesn't mean they're the best choice for you.
