Bought to replace a broken Kenmore unit at my mom's house. be as powerful as any other 1/2 hp unit available for twice the price at major retailers. It's no louder than any standard Badger device, although it's arguably a little quieter. Installation was easy - it ended up taking me more time figuring out how to remove the Kenmore mounting bracket than reinstalling the new unit. Trick for those having trouble: instead of trying to hold the device still and tamper with the ring, first rotate the user in the retaining ring until it clicks into place. Once hanging, it can be easily rotated into position and then tightened. If you need some excessive force to "push it into the gasket" hard enough, as some have described, you're doing something wrong or your gasket isn't installed properly. (It slides out until it seats in a groove in the drain.) This unit has a built-in power cord, which is usually a plus. This can be a bit of an annoyance if you have a hardware rescue as it cannot be easily removed. I ended up just installing an outlet under the sink, using the power that was there, and plugging it in. A $5 fix that took an extra 20 minutes. The drain also knocked me out for a few minutes. Our previous Kenmore setup used a straight pipe from a junkyard instead of the L that came with this one. This disposal uses an odd gasket that fits over the rim of the pipe. Apparently, it just breaks off and slides along the edge of any standard tubing. All I had to do was take it off and wrap it around the end of my old straight plug and it sealed perfectly. If it had a hex drive at the bottom to clear jams, this would be the perfect 5 star haven. When even the manual suggests using a broom stuck in the drain to loosen the jam, I frown a little. This is a very small problem. All in all a super cheap replacement. Big savings compared to availability in major hardware stores and availability in 2 days with Prime. Very happy with this purchase.
