Review on Leofoto LN-404C Massive Carbon Fiber Tripod: Perfect for Bowl Compatible Systems by Michael Radhakrishnan

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Highly recommended

Make sure you know how big it is before you buy - go to the store and check out Gitzo's largest series 5 tripods; this one is similar. Exquisite workmanship, all components inspire with precision and high quality. The connections are tightly fixed, generally solid. simultaneously. Holds my 600mm f/4 lens with ease. It would probably be a very good and portable tripod for a medium sized telescope, say a refractor up to 150mm or a reflector up to 300mm. Cons: - Weight: 3.7 kg instead of the advertised 3.4 kg. Gitzo weighs 3.0 kg (and costs four times more). - Twistlocks seem to require a little more twist than Gitzo. None of the shortcomings are too serious. For the price, it's just amazing - it has no competition on the market right now. I am impressed and satisfied with the quality and performance. I will post updates as I gain more experience in this area. Note: The seller has offered to refund me $50 (out of $350 total) if I inspect the product. . This did not affect my rating. I'm so excited about the tripod that I wanted to review it anyway.

Pros
  • Includes extended case (case is big enough to fit tripod and head).
Cons
  • No power
