After installing this dock on the Lenovo Thinkpad Carbon X1 Gen 7, everything worked fine for about 3 weeks. None of the USB 3 ports worked at the time. After a call to customer service the first agent helped but was unable to resolve the issue instead arranging a return and replacement. Handed over to a second agent who asked to collect my car (which I satisfied). He made several changes to the bios settings that didn't solve the problem. He then restored the operating system remotely. The recovery hit the registry settings when the agent said their shift was over and that if the problems persisted, someone would pick up tomorrow morning. He then logged out of my system, which crashed in the process. So now I had a useless system. Several attempts to get help resulted in "Your computer is out of warranty, very bad, but you can send it in and pay for it to be repaired." Lenovo caused the problem, but they took no responsibility. After a lot of work, I was able to restore the operating system enough to surf the Internet. While looking for a solution to the problem, I came across a Lenovo website that allowed me to boot the system from a USB stick. It worked and the system is fully functional again. Meanwhile, Lenovo agents convinced me that the only way out was to buy another laptop. Unfortunately I believed them and ordered a new one as Lenovo is one of the few laptops that works with a Lenovo docking station. The replacement dock now works with both machines.
