Not exactly an easy install on a 2006 Volvo XC70 as the pillars are hidden in the inner panel that holds the headliner. However, YouTube tutorials have made things a lot easier. The disguise came off and came back like Lego. The hardest part of the replacement process was really figuring out how to remove and reinstall the little wire holders that hold the ball joint and pivot it together. It certainly helped that a couple of helpers took turns maintaining the hatch. I'm a little concerned that the storage racks aren't as strong as the original racks, but they seem to work fine. The flap opens and closes as usual. Just two hours of work. In short, I can't imagine paying a dealer or other service provider for parts and labor for this job. I've saved a fortune. If you love a challenge and don't mind DIY projects, don't doubt yourself. You can do this.
