I've tried more of these pillows than I can remember. Aside from the usual quality issues, there is always the problem of finding a pillow that is accurate in size and shape rather than firmness. This pillow seems to be as well made as any other pillow I've had. The gel gives rigidity. My buttocks are thin (as I age) which makes many pillows too hard for me, although great for others. I'm used to it and the gel keeps it from compressing too much at my 160lb weight so my tailbone stays protected. I tried a non-gel version of this pillow and it squeezed so much it was putting pressure on my tailbone so I had to return it. Contours also work with the size/shape of my hips/thighs. Some cushions are a flat wedge that works somewhat for me on flatter surfaces, but the contours of this cushion (along with the gel) make it much more comfortable for long periods of sitting and on a variety of surfaces. highlighted.
