TOMY Water Games Pelican: Enhancing Classic Fun with a Splash! Review

I couldn't help but play too! So on the left is the original I've had since I was a child and on the right is the one I just bought. I really enjoyed these games and wanted to buy my daughter something for her Christmas stocking. I completed it in about 5 minutes but my husband couldn't pass even after an hour so all the difficulty of the game is in your skills in the water!

Brings back so many memories from my childhood. I wanted my kids to experience the same frustration, I mean entertainment, that I had as a kid without cellphones/tablets/computers. Just add distilled water to keep it from becoming brittle and everything works great! The balls sometimes get stuck, but if they're upside down they'll eventually fall back down. The seal on the top makes it completely leakproof too!

This is not pre-filled like it was when I was young. Hopefully the distilled water doesn't go bad over time. But since it has to be filled, it has a hole at the top from which the cork can be pulled very easily. I assume that young children or curious children of all ages tend to pull the cork and make a mess. Unfortunately, this will not fall into the hands of my children.

How are you going to catch the balls when they are floating on the water surface?! I bought this item for my kids for Easter and they loved playing it and said it was more fun than a video game. The water toys with rings worked well. And this one with eggs, swim! Very disappointing. It's been 24 hours and the balls are still floating. :( The manufacturer should have used a heavier material for the non-floating balls.

I added this for my class on day one. I work with ODD and ED students and they loved the two these style water toys I brought that were from my childhood. This toy was all over the table the first day I was working with a kindergarten student who I noticed was pressing the activation button on the front. It is enough that it leaks, even worse if it leaks in the place where the children should play with it.

I bought Pelican (yellow) and Dolphin (blue) games.1. DO NOT add dish soap as another reviewer said.2. If you need to add a drop of glycerin to avoid bubbles. I didn't need it at all.3. Remove the cap from the top and fill with water. Fill in about half an inch from the top. Replace plug. play.4. If you overfill it, the balls and hoops will stick to the ends and you won't be able to play. Go back to point 3. The pelican (yellow) game is definitely easier to play than the dolphin (blue).

Worried at first because it was full of bubbles and the balloons wouldn't stop floating to the top. In the beginning it didn't work at all. After standing with water in it for a couple of weeks, the bubbles disappeared and the balls stopped floating. It works fine now and my son loves seeing if he can match balls like I did as a kid. My brother saw it and asked if that was what we had as kids. I would suggest filling it up and letting it rest before giving to children to avoid disappointment.

Bought this car and the Pelican as a memory of my youth. I was SO excited to receive them and just as disappointed when they arrived. This is a far cry from the quality of yesterday's Tomy Wee Wonderful Waterful toys. They have a lightweight construction and just feel cheap in your hands. Floating objects inside and moving objects attached to them (Dolphin) are not as heavy as they should be (used to be) and therefore do not respond well to the water pump.
