Review on Teacher Created Resources Minute Timer by Neal Martin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great durable and accurate hourglass!

tool created by the teacher The 1 Minute Hourglass is a durable, accurate, medium-sized and stable (ie not tipping over) hourglass. It is ideal for encouraging children to brush their teeth and for planning activities broken down into 1-minute intervals. Simply flip the timer over each time it runs out to add another minute. This timer is best for activities that last up to 4 minutes. I use it for brushing my teeth and also for Dungeons & Dragons RPGs. In the latter case, if players are taking too long to decide, I'll pull out that timer and tell them they have 1 minute to decide (sometimes 2 minutes if I'm being generous). This is a great way to apply pressure to speed things up and keep the game from getting stuck, especially when playing with easily distracted kids. It can also be used for impromptu character punishments, e.g. B. to tell the player that their character is blind, immobilized, unconscious, etc. for a set number of minutes instead of the number of turns. Sometimes a time-based punishment works better than chasing moves, and watching/toggling the timer gives that character something to do while the rest of the group creates a sense of suspense/drama as they try to even the handicap. within a specified period of time. Either way, this is a solid choice in the form of an accurate, durable, and easy-to-read (colorful) hourglass, whatever your needs. Mine ran for almost exactly 60 seconds, so I'd trust it even for precise culinary purposes, if that's your goal. Of course, if you're planning multi-minute activities, all you have to do is diligently turn it over once the top glass is empty.

Pros
  • understandable even for the old ones
Cons
  • some little things
