Failed to load media. I picked up this soldering station from Merece to try and fix the sensor box in my 2004 Yukon XL which was basically not working. I used the smallest soldering tip that came with the unit to re-solder the many surface mount resistors in the cluster. Reinstalled cluster and everything worked like a champ. This soldering station is a big upgrade from my 25 year old 15 watt iron. A type of iron with a screw in the handle that is directly related to the heat. I've been branded on my old iron too many times. The 65 watts in this iron are enough for all my soldering needs. Heats up quickly and holds the temperature well. The temperature lock feature is great when I don't need to change the temperature. Temperature control feels solid and moves smoothly and fairly accurately. I appreciate the auto shut off feature when I forget it's on and move away from my desktop. ESD and ESD protection are vital to my needs and that's it. The extra tip is a bonus, but finding a place to keep them is very important to me. So many stations don't give you any extras. The Merce station includes extra tips, a brass tip cleaner, a tip cleaning sponge and a soldering suction cup. Metal nut with a shoulder at the base of the spike. The handpiece cover then slides off. The tip then slips off. In the end, this soldering station works great. Meets my expectations exactly.
