These fixtures are a game changer

If you had told me a few weeks ago that the main plumbing in my house had failed and needed replacing I would have been upset. If you told me I would replace it myself, I'd say you're crazy. But today in less than an hour I cut out the old gate valve on the side entry of my house and installed a new Sharkbite 3/4" ball valve with no problem. House but other than pulling out/installing a toilet or changing a faucet, plumbing is NOT my thing. However, with these new plug-in fittings from SharkBite, the game has changed. To be honest the whole process couldn't have been more painless. I know I just saved myself a few hundred bucks and am very satisfied. A few tips : 1) Buy and use a SharkBite deburring/deep tool If your access to using it is limited (my pipe was less than an inch from a log wall) you can cut it with a hacksaw 2) If you have the After preparing the ends of your pipes with the tool, mark the depth on the pipe with a marker as explained in the tutorial videos w ir. e. Seriously, do it. 3) Unlocking the hardware with the unlocking clip can be a bit tricky. What worked for me was pressing the release clamp firmly against the fitting while rotating it about a half or quarter turn around the pipe to completely loosen the fitting. Update 01/25/2018: I've been watching the new Master Shutdown closely for some time after installation, but now, over a year later, it's still up without the slightest hint of a leak. Update 06/19/2019: Two and a half years later and still no leak.
