simple device, simple fix

This gizmo turned out to be the perfect fix for a troublesome winter issue. Our furnace de-humidifies the air and the condensation is pumped to the outside of the house. We get some 20 degree nights during our winters and while the condensation flowed as it should inside the house; when it hit the three or four feet of tubing outside the house we had a problem. The condensation would quickly freeze and plug the discharge line between the tube's end and the house. This in turn caused the line…

Pros
  • Well I wrapped this cord along a 3 inch pvc and it kept it from freezing!!!
Cons
  • The product is relatively expensive when compared to other pipe heating solutions

WORKS GREAT! for my opinion

I bought the 100 footer. We used this for our RV water line while our house was getting built. I put this on a 1/2" PECs line and run it to our well on top of the ground. I just spiraled the heat tape around the water line very spread out. One loop every 3-4 feet. I had 85 feet of water line on the ground. We put the foam pipe insulation, (picked that up at Lowes and comes in 6 foot sections), on the water line and taped all the sections with 3M aluminum tape. Plugged it in and never worried…

Pros
  • I bought 2 of these for my basement and they have worked great so far 10 out of 10
Cons
  • The 120V voltage may not be suitable for all households or commercial settings

A bit stiff, and I can't feel the warmth to the touch

It's not truly freezing temperatures here in North Carolina yet (Nov 2020) but I have put this around my water lines on a chicken coop in hopes it keeps things from freezing. This was a little tricky to install because it's pretty rigid/stiff. I was able to wrap it, but it wasn't the easiest thing. I just didn't expect it to be that way. -- I"ve had it on for a few days and if I touch it, it doesn't feel cold but it also doesn't feel warm. I'm assuming that's the way it should work, so for now,

Pros
  • Product was delivered on time and matched the description.
Cons
  • I do not recommend. Not easy to wrap anything with

Si far so good ! best in my review

I live in central Texas and I live in a mobile home, I bought the 60 well and I have put it in my pipe under my mobile home and eventually the heat stroke, so far it has dropped to 22 f and everything is perfect, not as much as in the 2021 that went down to 15 f but I have confidence in it, I have left it connected to power 24/7

Pros
  • Installed as it should
Cons
  • The product may not be compatible with certain types of pipes or pipe materials

Gutter and Leader Defrosting in Alaska

I have this product installed in a smaller gutter and a longer leader coming from the gutter. Keeps the water flowing in the gutter. It has been working well for about a month now here in Alaska.

Pros
  • Quick easy install and never had any problems.
Cons
  • The self-regulating feature may not be efficient in extremely cold temperatures

Working perfect for my needs

I used this heat tape to warm an outdoor yard hydrant that cannot be drained for winter weather. In the photo I added two layers of half inch closed cell foam pipe insulation tubes and wrapped the whole thing in a wind proof blanket. This product seems well made and up to the challenge, though winter has not really set in so far. Single digit temps expected here in Michigan. If the seller or manufacturer sees this review and thinks I am setting myself up for failure, I hope they will respond…

Pros
  • Saves time and money on expensive repairs and replacements caused by pipe damage.
Cons
  • The product may not be suitable for use in areas with strict budgetary constraints or limited resources

Works as it says on my review.

Upon receiving the cord I plugged it in and put in freezer, quite warm to the touch when taking it out of freezer. The heating cable may not be effective in preventing blockages or other types of obstructions in pipelines!

Pros
  • Requires minimal maintenance, making it a convenient solution for protecting pipes.
Cons
  • The heating cable may not be effective in preventing blockages or other types of obstructions in pipelines

Seems To Be Working Fine

Pretty easy to use. I wanted to wait until we had some very cold temps up here (Maine) before leaving a review. It has been down to close to 0 degrees for a few nights. I really think my best review would be after my first entire winter season with this. But I would probably forget to review it.I guess I can always update. I take this stuff seriously, because frozen pipes in time for Christmas would be a buzz kill for anybody. However, so far, so good. I am sure it’s been cold enough that I…

Pros
  • Tools & Home Improvement
Cons
  • The heating cable may be prone to overheating, which can pose a safety hazard

Must use gfi to work

Good product. Been cold enough that if it didn't work i would know. Install was easy.YOU MUST USE GFI OUTLET. As many others probably did i plugged it in to an outlet inside my house and put ice on the sensing part. Waited, waited, waited. Still room temperature - would not get warm at all. I was very displeased and ready to return it. I remembered reading somewhere else that a gfi was REQUIRED. Tested it in my bathroom with a gfi outlet and it was fully working. I think it is slightly…

Pros
  • Can be used on straight or curved pipes, making it ideal for a variety of applications.
Cons
  • The product may not be suitable for use in areas with limited electrical capacity or availability

Works great, very happy.

I used this all winter on a rual water well. The temperature dipped well below zero degrees (F). I did not have any problems with the water freezing.

Pros
  • ETL approved. JHSF doesn't work unless the ambient temperature is below 37F/3 degree C. Please test the cable in a cold environment.
Cons
  • The product may not be easy to remove once it is installed, making it less flexible than other heating solutions

IF it works, I can't really tell, then I am happy

I think that the product is working. It was a little stiff to wrap around the pipe and I would not have felt comfortable rapping it back on itself in the pipe, but overall I got the job done well.If it keeps my pipes from bursting, I am very happy. However, there are two things that I'm not very happy with pertaining to this product. Since they don't want you to use an extension cord, it makes it nearly impossible to plug this in without having an outlet right near the water pipes. I doubt that

Pros
  • ‎unknown
Cons
  • The product may not be suitable for use in hazardous environments such as chemical plants or oil refineries

Kept 55 gallon drum from freezing

I live in a 5th wheel temporarily on 20 acres while I decide if I'm going to build a house. My fresh water tank froze and busted. Quick fix was to temporarily use a 55 gal plastic drum outside of 5th wheel. Wrapped the barrel about 4 times and the rest of heat trace on the water line into the undercarriage of 5th wheel to water pump. 20 below and the water didn't freeze. Of course I insulated the barrel. When I first plugged in the heat trace it didn't get warm and I thought it was junk. After…

Pros
  • Meets the highest standards for quality, safety, and performance.
Cons
  • The product may not be suitable for use in areas with high levels of vibration or movement

Failed when I needed it most.

This heat tape worked for a couple of cold days then failed when I needed it the most. All my lines are frozen. It lasted just a few months. Cosmetically looks perfect, the plug is lit but doesn''t heat up anymore..

Pros
  • Cord needs to be longer.
Cons
  • It lasted just a few months. Cosmetically looks perfect, the plug is lit but doesn't heat up anymore.

Definitely Works on my review.

I had this wrapped around an outdoor water line and it got down to 7 degrees and it did not freeze. It is very sturdy, but with that benefit, is not as flexible to wrap around the pipe as I anticipated. You will need some zip ties to hold it in place.

Pros
  • Safe for use in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
Cons
  • The product may not be compatible with certain types of pipes or pipe coatings

Worked Well best in my review

I installed this on a water line in an area that was prone to freezing if you did not leave the faucet running in cold weather. At the time I installed this I also installed a temperature sensor on the pipe tied into my home automation system. I was then able to trend the pipe temperature and saw that the built in thermostat worked well cutting the heater on when the pipe reached 37 degrees, and off around 50 degrees. It was quite consistent. For a note, it actually called for a GFI receptacle,

Pros
  • ‎20 x 4 x 2 inches
Cons
  • The heating cable may not be effective in heating pipes with multiple bends or turns

Good cord. good for me

So I took this cord. Wrapped it around the drain hoses for my rust tank and water softener. Put it all in pvc pipe and ran it to my back tree line to keep water from my foundation. This thing works great it has kept going in -45 weather buried in 20 inches of snow.

Pros
  • Suitable for use in both new and existing pipe systems.
Cons
  • The heating cable may not be easy to repair or replace, making it less practical for long-term use

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easy and effective on my review.

Installed on my rv water hose with foam insulation and it has kept it from freezing down to 16 degrees so far. Very impressed. Much cheaper than a heated hose. Highly recommend.

Pros
  • Great product. Make sure you get some pipe insulation to cover pipe and tape for best results.
Cons
  • The product may not be as energy-efficient as other pipe heating solutions on the market

We used this on out food truck's water lines

We used this on out food truck's water lines. They are 1/2" lines so we just ran this cable straight down each line, then wrapped it in foam and ziptied it all. So far its been working great - the only issues we've seen is that the brass LPD (low point drain) freezes because there really isn't a way to wrap an end in heating tape. So for those we just have to wrap in a small heat blanket (like what you'd put on your shoulder).Overall we're happy with the results - our only complaint would be…

Pros
  • Nothing to like or dislike it does the job it is meant for.keeping pipes from freezing
Cons
  • The product may not be suitable for use in areas with frequent power outages

Great product best in my review

i needed a very short piece of heated tape to keep pipes from freezing in my well house and this was perfect. good instructions and easy to attach to metal pipe.

Pros
  • Very easy to install, good value
Cons
  • It drop down to teens overnight and it Didn’t keep line from freezing

Waste of money good for me

It’s a waste of money. I bought this to keep the garden hose that supplies my RV thawed. We have had 3 nights of weather in the 20s. As soon as the heater turns on. It pops the circuit breaker. I changed the extension cord, went to different electrical outlets. It doesn’t matter. It still pops the circuit breaker.

Pros
  • The cable is very stiff, but good quality.
Cons
  • I do have it.Just never used it yet...Still in packageMoney well spent...Eventually
