Upgrade I need

*** Watch my video review here for a closer look *** After years of using my super cheap CowboyStudio transceivers I finally decided to upgrade. My previous set worked pretty well on most of my shoots, but they got to the point where I was having a lot of backfires. I didn't want to spend over $150 on PocketWizards just yet, so I decided to try these new Vello trigger/receivers. The price was somewhere between the cheaper CowboyStudio and PocketWizards and I think they perform better than expected. The functionality is very simple, just put it on your camera and flash (you can use it with flashes and flashes), set the channel and you're good to go. I love how they come with all the necessary cables to connect to my AlienBee strobe lights. The materials are plastic, but the build quality is much better than the cowboy studio set. Performance was the most important factor for me. At first I was a little worried because I saw some reviews where people said they had a lot of misfires. However, I tried this set on a few shots and had very few dropouts. It's still not ideal for getting more than one shot in a single shoot, but you have to consider the price. I took about 500 shots on my last shot and ended up misfiring 4 times. Not such a bad relationship. Good thing none of the misfires were consistent (which was common on my old CowboyStudio kit). I ended up buying two of these kits to use with two Alienbee flashes at the same time. I think I'll buy another set at some point. The additional deduction is a replacement. Overall, I recommend this set for people looking to transition from triggers to beginners. If you can afford it, go for PocketWizards, but if you're on a budget, this is a good choice. Pros: availability. Cheaper than PocketWizards. - Easy to use. - Comes with all necessary cables/adapters. - Comes with a good pouch for it. - Good build material. - A total of 8 channels can be used, but no big deal. There are still a few dropouts, but not too many.
