Review on 🔌 400W Power Inverter - 12V to 110V Car Vehicle Inverter with Dual USB Ports and AC Outlets for Road Trip, Cigarette Lighter Inverter by Alex Maynard

I've wanted to use something like this in our caravan for a long time. While 400 watts isn't enough to run power-hungry devices like vacuum cleaners or microwave ovens, it's more than enough for many small applications. For us the main use is to connect laptop chargers while camping. We had no luck finding 12V laptop chargers that would fit our two laptops as the output voltage was too low (e.g. 16V instead of 19V) or the plug didn't fit the laptop. So we just wanted to use our regular 115v chargers, which we already know work. We also have various Kindles, smartphones and hotspots that require 5V power; They can all be powered via two USB ports on the inverter. This inverter looks solid and well made. It comes with a 24" black/red power cord that is approximately 14 gauge (based on the 2.5mm^2 range printed on the cord). The cables are terminated with ring terminals so other cables can easily be used if required. For example, I'm thinking of running a wire straight into our RV's 12v system to avoid the awkward location of the cigarette lighter. The two USB ports are USB-A ports and are said to deliver up to 4.2 amps. That's an impressive amount of current, which is why I think this inverter should power pretty much any USB device. As a test, we plugged in two of our laptops, both of which were dead. Each of these laptop chargers consumes a maximum of about 130W, so the total output is less than 260W. At the same time, I also used a 3D pen connected to one of the USB ports; The power required for a pen at 5V and 2.3A is about 11.5W. The maximum total power in my test is a maximum of 277W (rather less). Anyway, everything went smoothly. The inverter got a little warm initially when charging the laptop at top speed, but it got pretty cool after that. Although I haven't tested the inverter at its 400W rating yet, I'm happy with it so far. It certainly meets our current needs, and having a low-power AC outlet in our trailer will make some things possible that we hadn't previously considered. Conclusion - I love it!
