2020 updated review: I bought this mat back in 2016. For anyone who cares about longevity - this mat is still great! No tears, no loose seams, no compression. I waited a bit to review this saddle pad as I wanted to make sure I'd used it enough to form an opinion - oh my god my mare loves it! She has abseil certification and my barrel saddle is too wide for her. This pillow works exactly as I hoped it would: it lifts the saddle off the shoulder and flattens it on the back. Now she even has sweat marks from a long drive and her spine is completely dry. The first time I put it on she immediately started licking and chewing - good luck! If you have any doubts about trying this rug, buy it. The only thing that confuses me is that there is currently only one size. A customer service rep said they are working on releasing more sizes and shapes in the future.
