Review on πŸ”₯ Durable DGZZI 40X40X11mm Aluminum Conductive Heatsink for Enhanced Thermal Performance by Steve Brethorst

Revainrating 4 out of 5

No thermal tape, but still a good radiator.

My original order only had 2 in a pack. As I needed 3 I reordered and the second order had 4 as described. returning the original return order; probably something that keeps coming back to stock since the other reviewer was short. Good construction and black anodizing. Unfortunately, despite the product name, the tape is NOT a thermal tape; Just look for Tape 9448A on the 3M website. It is characterized by "good holding power at high temperatures and good adhesion to various surfaces. It's commonly used to bond nameplates, plastic films, and foams." Nowhere does it mention thermal conduction numbers. Although Alibaba lists 9448A as "Heat Resistant Thermal Tape." I decided to trust the 3M website. (And yes, I just got a lot spare time.) It's not the end of the world if you know what you're doing with radiators, just remove it and use your own thermal tape/glue/paste if you want the best thermal performance, unfortunately you'll have to replace the tape (so -1 star), but this is for the camera sensor, which heats up from the built-in heatsink, so I wanted to get it right the first time. I didn't want to waste time measuring the thermal conductivity characteristics of the 9448A tape. And even if the tape is thermal ok i wanted the paste to fill the air gaps i had UPDATE: I found isopropanol didn't remove the tape well but the acetone did My wife's free nail polish remover worked well. The nail polish remover softened the glue and then it took a little scraping with a razor blade to completely remove the remaining glue. Too bad they didn't sell bare metal heatsinks or with the right thermal tape, even if they cost a few cents more.
