We've had several foam mattresses and you should expect a few things: 1) Slight differences in thickness 2) Slight odor when aired 3) They sometimes stretch unevenly This mattress was purchased for a specific purpose and should be very thin. I found the thickness to be fairly close to 6 inches and expanded fairly evenly. I also didn't notice a strong odor like some other mattresses we've bought. The smell still goes away, but this mattress became pretty good straight away (there's a lot less foam, of course). The mattress is also visually more appealing than other foam mattresses due to the two-tone design (opinion). In general very satisfied. I won't compare it to thick/soft mattresses as that's unfair. Comparison For what it is and how it was described, this is a good choice. Bear in mind that it has only been used for a few weeks but that is my honest first impression.
