This is quite a unique device. I was looking for a way to turn something on WITHOUT using Wi-Fi. I knew it had to be Bluetooth, but I couldn't find anything on the market to connect anything to it (like my router). Then I came across this device from GE. It's a little tricky to install (more on that in a moment), but once you get it set up and running, it works great. Now my router is connected to this device and uses the schedule to turn the router on and off automatically. I can also control the router via the app. All this without using Wi-Fi. Installation is pretty easy as long as you plug the device DIRECTLY into a wall outlet and don't use an extension cord. How it knows if you're using an extension cord I don't know. All I know is that when I originally bought the device, I plugged it into an extension cord and it wasn't able to properly connect to the app. I've been trying all day with the same results. Actually, I wanted to send the block back. As a last resort, I then plugged the device directly into an outlet and it connected immediately. Since they both supply the same 120 volts, I don't know how it knows if you're using the power strip output from the outlet, but it is, and using it directly from the outlet seems like the only way the device will work properly. . Once you learn this trick you will be golden and the device will work properly. I highly recommend this Bluetooth switch from GE. It's pretty unique but works great.
