if you put your phone in your pocket people won't hear you

I have a new model they don't sell anymore, it was really good but broken. If you've got a podcast turned on, switch to a phone call — you can barely hear the callers. Then when you return to the podcast, your ear hurts. When I bend down to reach down, people say I'm on mute - when I put my phone in my pocket, people say I'm on mute. Very disappointing.
