A night hike in Tennessee in April should see the rain stop and temperatures in the 40s. Well, it didn't work out as planned. We had snow and sleet on the 5 mile hike to the campground. We must have had wet wood on site and just bad conditions. We quickly stretched this tarpaulin on the landing, put a few chairs under it and made a small fire on a flat stone under the tarpaulin. As soon as the fire broke out we picked up the rock and pushed it back a few feet, until then it didn't matter how wet the wood was. If we hadn't had that tarp the trip would have been a complete waste, we would have stayed in our tents trying desperately to keep warm. You could get by with a $15 tarp from your local hardware store, but you wouldn't get as much value from it. This tarp is light, thin yet incredibly strong, the attachment points are strong and its placement gives you many configuration options. My tarp saved the trip. Everything that is needed.
