Eco-friendly and easy on the wallet

Due to my youngest child being allergic to polyethylene I have tried at least 10 different brands and contacted over 40 for their ingredients. Huggies are manufactured by Kirkland (Costco) through its production company Kimberly Clark. Pampers makes All Good through its production company, Proctor and Gamble. Almost every other brand available in the US market uses 4 foreign manufacturers. You only pay extra for custom printing and packaging. All of them use polyethylene or other petroleum products in either the topsheet, bottomsheet, fastening systems, or some combination of the two. Bamboo is the only solution for my youngest child. Eco Boom is the most wallet friendly and is exactly the same as other bamboo brands I've tried. These are the same diapers as the American brand that rhymes with Viper and has a giraffe mascot. Eco-Boom is half the price of a regular Viper box. Bamboo is incredibly soft. These are thick, plush diapers like nothing else. However, the material is not flexible like other brands. It takes a little practice to find the right way to fasten it around a small butt. I personally prefer bamboo briefs if the child is big enough for them. Bamboo will also generally leak if the outside of the diaper is wet. For example, if a small toddler is learning to use a cup and splashes water on their knees, replace it shortly thereafter. Whilst there is some controversy over the water consumption of processing bamboo I am happy with the ingredients and bamboo is the best alternative available as I cannot wash nappies.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors
