My location has very poor cellular coverage. This means that the device should be running at maximum gain most of the time, although this appears to be weather dependent. The target cell location is 23 miles away and not in sight. Because of this, installation is delicate. The configuration of the indoor and outdoor antennas is critical. Vertical and horizontal separation are important. The best place for an outdoor antenna is on or above the roof. The indoor antenna should be central for the desired coverage, but also far from the outdoor antenna. In my case, the included 50ft coaxial cable was not enough to provide the required separation and ensure proper cable routing between them. The supplied documentation was also schematic. It does not adequately explain how automatic gain control works and how flashing LEDs indicate the operational status of the device. If feedback occurs between the indoor and outdoor antennas, the device will not recover automatically and will need to be restarted. Some common household activities alter the propagation of signals both between antennas and between the cell site and the outside antenna, requiring you to restart the device to restore it. Not a bad machine. It might be easier to use in a place with a stronger cell signal, but it's not for the faint of heart in my area.
