Don't get me wrong, this is an excellent quality and fine finish item. It's just not for every cat. we had a kitten in september 2014, he was little and then got very ill and i was sent on a business trip for 7 months at the last minute. So he only got to know our other two cats in July. Our oldest cat, Felix, started pulling the fur out of his tail and then started washing himself obsessively, although he'd never actually washed himself before. The vet diagnosed him with an anxiety disorder and suggested diffusers be put in place. At first we got soothing plugins, but he seemed tired and zombie-like, so I was hoping Thunderbolt would help. He loves to be cuddled, wrapped in towels/blanket and have extra warmth so I thought this would be perfect. First we put it on him and he jumped for the mentioned instructions to happen. It's a new and strange sensation, so it's going to happen. We started playing with Felix but the other two kept sniffing him so we took him out of the room. He got treats and scratches, played a little and was allowed to explore the rest of the house. He seemed to gain confidence and became more outgoing than ever. we took him back to the cat room (our cats have their own room the size of the master bedroom) and the other two came over to sniff the shirt again - poor Felix's head and tail sank lower than the shirt - me not knowing that a cat can even be shy. My husband and I played with it for an hour to get everyone used to the shirt and to rebuild trust and bonds. We left it on for the rest of the night. He's used to wearing it but doesn't like it and that's nothing new for the other two cats. Pros: - Other reviews of this item (the big one offered at Revain) said it was t-shirt material, NOT. It's like a heavy tracksuit. Much heavier than t-shirts but lighter than sweatshirts. You can't catch him if he scratches him. It also breathes - I slipped my hand between the shirt and the cat to make sure it didn't overheat (this also ties into the scam below) - easy to understand with our no-instructions instructions - it was very helpful, anticipating failure and ways to get the cat to look positively at the shirt. Cons: - Size - I lost my chest measurement. Measured and compared with the dimension grid. He had to be a medium. The velcro is open there when Felix is wearing a shirt because it's a bit bulky (that's the soft side of the velcro so it doesn't scratch or pick up lint/etc). He's not a big cat, but he's not small either. If the shirt is pulled right over his front legs, his back legs will crumple the shirt (it's too long for him). - front velcro - when I tighten it so tight that the shirt is all the way forward there is an excess that it pulls in - he learned very well how to undo the front velcro. If I align the velcro so he can't grab it, the cat in the ad pic doesn't get as tight and the shirt slides back. He also caught his jaw in it - When Felix sleeps curled up the velcro creases and his back seems to stretch and stay straight when he gets up - Maybe too breathable. We leave the heater in the cat room when my husband turns on the air con. The last few times I turned the heater on when Felix had his shirt on he ran to the heater and stood on his hind legs to try to get all the heat out. the room wasn't that cold and it wasn't in his nature. Overall, my cat doesn't like it. twice I took off his thongs to put on his shirt and he went to the other side of the room and didn't come to me when he usually comes when I call. he bites and pulls on him. It has great reviews and was recommended by a vet, but like humans, all cats are different.
