Grinding defects Suitable for mechanical and hand tools

This is an economical hand oil stone for rough work and rough tools. This is not for fine woodworking. I bought it to use with a set of Marples chisels in an emergency. This is a combo stone with two grits marked only "Course" and "Fine". The material of the stone is not specified on the packaging and the groats are not marked. Of course, after trying on the nails, I identified the brown side, but that's not how it should be. Norton must determine the grain and its composition; Unfortunately, there is no information on the packaging. It can be very difficult for a beginner to gain an advantage. To make matters worse, Norton's website does not list this stone. Norton makes some of the best grinding tools in the world. I think they just don't care about this product. Okay enough, how does it work? Buy grinding oil first - the stone soaked up a few ounces before I could start the blade. The side of the track is cut quickly and cleanly; The surface of the stone is hard (synthetic) and even. The thin side cut quickly, leaving a surface that, while not reflective, was smooth and shiny. After about 5 minutes I had a decent lead, which is good enough for my application. Buy this stone for your heavier outdoor tools, kitchen shears or carpenter's blades; Get a more sophisticated system for your hand planes and chisels.
