These sweatshirts are made from lightweight polyester for excellent sun protection on hot days. The fabric is soft but seems to breathe very well. Consider buying one size smaller than usual. I'm 141 lbs, 5'8" tall, 39" chest and usually wear medium sized clothes. I ordered a small one, there is still plenty of room
