Good for the Environment but Just OK

If you are looking for something reusable and compostable/biodegradable then this is for you. Personally, I don't like them that much compared to reusable towels based on viscose (not compostable). They are very spongy and need to be dampened first before you can apply them to dry the spills. This takes a few seconds (about 7). meanwhile, the juice slowly spreads and drips over the rim. Anyway, if you have a screaming toddler making a mess, you can understand why the few seconds it takes me to wet the tablecloth is killing me. They are also small for my needs, get and stay dirty quickly and look pretty gross. Even though they are put in the microwave to be disinfected, they start to smell bad. Also, I recently read an article that said that microwave sponges don't kill the most harmful bacteria, they just kill the less harmful bacteria and make room for the more harmful ones to grow. In addition (this is a trifle, but it also annoys me), due to its small size, when drying on a towel rail, it dries up, deforms and falls off. I have a reusable viscose washcloth that I bought while living abroad. I've had it for 10 years now and although it's a bit worn it looks clean and is perfectly usable. Trader Joe's offers similar reusable washcloths, also made in Germany (and tested for harmful substances), in a pack of 2 for EUR 2.99. They're a good size and don't need to be wet to soak. I've attached a photo: left to right, Trader Joe's, my 2007 reusable fabric, and Skoy. After I'm done with ska, I won't redeem it. My viscose clothes will last another ten years anyway.
