I've had several kitchen shears with plastic handles that break when trying to cut chicken. Due to warnings from other reviews I don't put them in the dishwasher and dry them thoroughly to avoid rusting. The included instructions even state that they are dishwasher safe, but hand washing is recommended. They don't diverge, so they're a little harder to clean, but they're a lot stronger than scissors that diverge, allowing you to cut softer, thinner things. I tested it by cutting lemongrass, which my scissors only bend, don't cut.
