Review on Motherboard ASUS PRIME B450M-A II by Mateusz Sowa ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I like everything, the quality is good, the price is acceptable.

It does not support Ryzen 5 * X out of the box (but it is flashed elementarily, described above, the "old" percent is not required). New board model (August 2022) for not the latest B450 chipset (August 2022). The AMD B450 chipset is already a couple of years old, unlike the AMD B550, it lacks progressive features, such as PCI Express 4.0 (here - 3.0). Square (24 * 24 cm), which is a little unusual. When connecting M2, SATA5 and SATA6 do not work. On inexpensive motherboards, this is the norm.

Pros
  • Many supported processors (list): 4 slots for memory, which makes it easy to increase the amount of RAM. Heatsinks on the VRM part - perhaps just calms, and perhaps really reduces the likelihood of overheating of the power subsystem. Support for Ryzen 5000 series (Zen3 architecture) starting from firmware 2409. ating using BIOS Flashback is elementary (you need a flash drive and firmware, the "old processor" is not required for ating). The modern chip size for firmware is 32 megabytes (256 megabits).
Cons
  • You cannot disable the sata device in the BIOS. This functionality was with older asus motherboards. According to the firmware from the "misunderstandings": when sata is disabled (in the motherboard settings) - a pause on the detection of sata devices. On the bright screenshots you can see that: 1. with "logo=auto" and loading into UEFI graphical mode (in particular windows installation) - resolution = 1920*1080 2. with "logo=disable" (or "logo=full" ) and loading into UEFI graphical mode (in particular windows installation) - resolution = 1024*768; In the dark screenshots you can see that: 3. when booting into UEFI - refind - text mode = 80*25 Explaining what I don't like about it: 1. When the logo is on * it is not clear what exactly happens when you turn it on, there is no additional information. When loading from a USB flash drive, there is no information (there is no "feedback") and a pause of 10 seconds causes some discomfort (because it is not clear whether the download is in progress or "everything is frozen"). 2. with logo=disable - we get a resolution of 768p which is not very cool on the picture when loading (boot screen) windows (permanently), in windows without installed drivers - also discomfort. A couple of little things, but annoying.

download the penultimate bios version (not beta) during operation, good air circulation in the housing is desirable
