I have rented this lens several times and finally bought it in this kit because of the great price. Sony 100-400 (which I also rented) is almost 4 times more expensive. For the price and performance, this lens is just a godsend. The lens is light and sharp for the focal length. OSS works very well and autofocus is fast, especially on an A7III or A6500 with the latest firmware. Customizable buttons (which you need a dock for) are really useful. In terms of performance, however, it does not come close to the Sony 100-400. Sony has F/4-5.6 instead of F/5-6.3, and Sony has critical sharpness at F/4. Autofocus also has the benefit of getting a native lens for a mount like Sony. If you have a demanding job, often work in low light, or feel like you need the very best AND have $2,600, buy a Sony. However, in good light, you won't notice the difference between the resulting photos, even at 100% zoom. Having a quality bird, wildlife and sports lens for your Sony Alpha that you can pick up and use anytime is well worth the price, and then a few words about the converter. I already had a Sigma MC-11, but you have to add 150€ for the converter when you compare prices if you don't have one. The MS-11 performs better than any mount adapter I've used and you rarely notice it, but on rare occasions it trips and the camera has to be cycled. This almost never happened with my A7III, but until I updated to the latest camera firmware, it was a common occurrence with the A6500. That didn't happen with the A6000, but I don't often use this featherweight body with telephoto lenses. Consider extending the handle to use one of the plant sensor housings. Another inch of body makes the A6500/Sigma 100-400/MC-11 a great team. Overall, I highly recommend this lens as a low cost but quality alternative to the E-mount telephoto lens.
