The instructions are clear but a bit difficult to do. The organizer has a bar that must be put below the seat of the recliner. I found it difficult to install until I raised the foot-rest about 6-12" the rod was much easier to install.It holds my stuff quite well including my laptop but the pouch does bulge if you put a heavy object in it. I suspect those that complained that it did not hold well did not get the rod below the seat.Because there are two organizers in this purchase, they also serve as a cover for the arms so they get protection from spills and ware.
