Custom work may be required

Received a few weeks ago and so far so good. They were fitted to the 03 ZX6R, a notoriously unwieldy sportbike. I've tried the standard Kawi grips, rental medium grips, and these Kuryakyn ISOs. The level of comfort increases drastically compared to others, especially after your hands get used to it. In my case, I feel like it's easier to throttle and control now. Because these are larger diameter cranks, less rotation is required to reach full throttle. (Makes it easier to work with the right wrist) They are necessary for long distances. When installing, Kuryakin gives you strong superglue as well as full installation instructions, which is good. However, on my particular model, these grips were about 0.5" to 1" shorter to fully cover the metal handlebars, leaving an unsightly gap on either side. I had to get a hacksaw and cut both ends of the handlebars until I got a tight fit on the grips. This also removed the threads on the ends of the rods, but you won't need them with this setup. On this bike, my throttle is controlled by a plastic sleeve that wraps around the handlebars. BE VERY! Cautious! to prevent superglue from getting between the plastic throttle bushing and the metal rod when installing the crank. I wasn't careful and nearly sealed the throttle body and spent an extra hour removing the excess glue with rubber safe solvents and metal tools. still enjoy the convenience.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Definitely bad product
