Review on πŸ”Œ SIIG 3 Port PCI Express USB 3.0 Adapter Card + Gigabit Ethernet LAN - Standard & Low-Profile, Compatible with Windows Server, 7, 8, 8.1, 10 PCs (LB-US0614-S1) by Tim Blandin

Good USB 3 card with one weak point.

Works well with my updated 2006 Dell XPS-410 and I'm running Windows 7 from a single SSD drive . The calculator runs almost like a new PC and is 15 years old! Makes one hell of a backup PC! I installed this USB 3.0 card (without the NIC option) and everything is fine. The only warning here is to leave the Molex socket on the card when connected to a power supply. Otherwise the card slot may pop out and damage the card. If you want to use a powered USB 3 hub, the card does not need to be powered. With USB 3.0 on board, I can now clone my drive in a split second. Time. It's almost scary what an improvement this has brought. Suggestion: Connect your USB keyboard to the onboard USB port controlled by your BIOS. If you connect the specified keyboard to the new card you just inserted, you'll get a keyboard error every time you boot. This is because the driver for the USB 3 card is loaded with Windows and is not "seen" by the BIOS during "POST". Anyway, this applies to my old Dell computer.

Pros
  • Smart Charger: Each USB 3.0 port delivers up to 5V/900mA output
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
