Review on Five Ten Sleuth Mountain Bike Men's Shoes for Athletic by Kevin Jacobson

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Provides less toe protection than regular running shoes.

Sleuth Five Tens are terrible. The outsole is thin and offers no protection in the toe area. The canvas material that makes up part of the sock is no thicker than a heavily starched sock. Any running shoe offers more protection than this one. It's almost dangerous to call it a mountain bike shoe. The outsole is so thin at the front that you can feel your toes sitting higher than the toe box (which is wafer thin). The outsole is also flush with the sock material, so you don't have a "bumper" to hit. A pair of sneakers or something similar is more appropriate.

Pros
  • Good enough for trails, good grip and comfort
Cons
  • Can be uncomfortable on long journeys
