Very happy with the purchase!

This is exactly what I wanted! I bought this for my turtle dog shed to set the temp/timer when the temp drops at night so at least they don't get cold. They don't dig deep just to hide (Hermann). The kennel is on legs with the floor removed to allow the space to be ventilated and allow turtles in and out under the frame as a high roof shelter for temperature control. I was afraid the heater would be too big after ordering it (I'm not very good at sizing) but it turned out to be the perfect size to perfectly fit the short side of the house fit, perhaps for gradient warmth, or to cover part of the long side for more direct warmth. The heater legs are a bit unstable for my use - the base of each is a bit short in my opinion, each is held in place with just a small screw (I think it can tip over fairly easily if hit) and the screw for the second leg was missing. . As long as you're present in the room you're using it in (inner dog or cat most likely just lolling in front of it, or your feet under the table) when it's on you're fine, but you're moving turtles no matter, what to expect during the day. He will definitely fall for her when he hits. The front panel gets VERY hot and there are many warnings about it. This is radiant heat, which is not intended to heat an area per se, but rather to direct heat to a specific area. The space it sits in is about 18" x 24" with a 36" pitched roof, so I think there will be at least some heat retention. Again, the bottom frame is at least 1/2 open, to allow circulation when needed, as does the liftable top so I think the cakes have enough room to regulate their temperature without fear of overheating. I plan on mounting it on the doghouse wall ( to hang) but I need shorter screws than the ones provided or wooden blocks to drill the other side. It comes with longer screws and "anchors" for mounting to a wall thicker than a kennel wall. I currently have it on a long 2" thick cement block (wall cap) angled upwards to allow it to lean against the wall and lift off the floor so unauthorized persons cannot get to it. I put it on a timer for the night closed to turn it on and off as needed and turn it off on AZ days. The cord is thick and looks strong for any pet that leaves the device at least 2 feet away, then turns into a thin cord in front of the switch. The cable is also long. The thickness of the cable distinguishes this device from the cheaper (almost 1/2 the price) version for "popular use". There is an indicator light to let you know when the switch is in the "on" position, which is very valuable compared to another unit I tried that broke. Other reviewers have complained that the instructions don't specify which switch direction is low or high, but I use a single "l" for low and "ll" for high. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธThe sticker on it also says the panel is hot. I really hope this works for my purpose. At least it will be useful to me at home if not outside.
